A long while after the Pennsylvania Railroad went bankrupt, the Conrail formed shortly after, Conrail, or Consolidated Rail Corporation, owned the tracks that the LIRC runs on today, after they purchased the 106 mile trackage in 1994, when CSX was formed by the merger of Seaboard Coastline Industries and Chessie System, CSX got part of Conrail’s trackage and equipment, Norfolk Southern got the other part, then in 1993 the Louisville and Indiana Railroad, was formed, and is owned by Anacostia Rail Holdings Company.
