Remix and add a good character or an evil character. Good characters make Jacob 1 year younger so he doesn't lose motivation while evil characters will make Jacob 1 year older so he loses motivation. Try not to let his motivation fall to 0! You can add additional pet OCs to comfort him. That will increase his motivation a little.
