Leopardkit padded towards where she had seen Rainbow and Fleck before. Looking around, she couldn’t see the two ginger and white kits. /Perhaps they’re in their Residence/ she thought, then turned toward a bramble bush. It’s walls had soft, fragrant ferns weaved into them. They often needed to be replaced, as the kits’ mother, Rosefur, loved their smell and hated the way they looked after they dried too long. Leopardkit thought to herself for a moment. “They must be doing th-” She broke off with a startled mew as two blurs of light crashed into her. Her mew turned to a yelp of pain as she felt her paw twisting, twisting… And then the weight was off of her. With a sigh of relief, she twisted towards her ambushers, pelt prickling with sourness. She made sure to keep her injured paw high off the ground. “Haha! We got you good Leopardkit!” crowed Fleck, his bright green eyes sparkling and tabby tail flicking with excitement. His sister seemed less enthusiastic as she spoke, her voice quiet. “Oh, Bee, we didn’t hurt you, did we?” “Yes, you did!” Leopardkit growled, glaring at Fleck, who quickly flattened his ears. “I’m sorry, it was my idea. I didn’t think we would hurt you! Here, we can walk you to Moon, if you would like.” Leopardkit shuddered at the thought of the stubby-tailed white she-cat. Moon was the sister of Hawk, and because of that, she was Fleck and Rainbow’s aunt. Not that she acted any different to the siblings than she did to any other kits. Cold, and mean. Glancing around the clearing, Leopardkit wondered how the she-cat would act to her own kits. Her orange gaze locked on the pregnant snow colored cat as she climbed down from the discarded eagle’s nest she lived in. Leopardkit quickly looked away as Moon swung her head in the kit’s direction, but it was too late. The white she-cat padded up to the kits. “You hurt your paw,” she said flatly, her dark blue eyes dull with disinterest. “Actually, it wasn’t--” Leopardkit squeaked indignantly as Moon slapped her paw over her mouth. The white queen studied the tortie’s injured leg for a moment, running her cream spotted paws along it, causing Leopardkit to wince. “Ow! Careful!” Moon ignored her. “It appears you have strained it. Just keep off it for a while.” And with that, the white cat stood purposefully out of the camp. The kits watched her go. Rainbow was the one who broke the silence. “Great, harebrain! Your stupid little ‘ambush’ got Leopardkit hurt, and now we can’t play.” The white and ginger she-kit whacked her brother on the nose before turning to Leopardkit. “Sorry, Bee. We shouldn’t have jumped on you.” Leopardkit swished her golden and brown tail and lowered herself carefully on the ground. “It’s fine,” she sighed, laying her head on her paws. “I’m just glad I didn’t have to eat any herbs.” She made a face. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw Fleck shuffling his paws. “You good?” “Yeah, it’s just… sorry. I’m getting emotional again.” He wiped at his eyes with one white paw. “Just guilty. You won’t be able to do anything fun for the next few days because of me.” Leopardkit broke into an amused purr. “Oh, come on, it’s really not that bad! This isn’t the first time I’ve been hurt.” She paused for a moment before poking at him teasingly. “Aww, you care about me, don’t you.” His face reddened as he sprang up. “I don’t!” he protested. “I-” Rainbow interrupted him, rolling her eyes. “Oh, come on, can we be done? Mom said we only have until sunhigh to play, which is /soon/. Come on, you don’t want to waste our time arguing!” “Oh yeah? Do you have any bright ideas of what to play?” Leopardkit demanded, fur bristling a little as she defended Fleck and herself. The young ginger and white kit’s green eyes narrowed as her face split into a smug grin, an expression that wasn’t often seen on the quiet she-cat’s face. “Why, of course I do.” Alright guys, here's the next chapter! In this one, you got to know the kits a little better >:3 I'm currently working on making all of the clan cats, and since I write a detailed description for each one, plus a base personality, it takes quite a while. So, the next chapter might not come out for a while, but oh well.
