Day 5: At last, the day had come. It was finally, FINALLY, the first OFFICIAL day of camp. I decided it was FINALLY time for me to get to know my bunk mates. “Hi.” It was one of the kids in my room. “My name is @mangosmoothieee, what’s yours?” “Oh, my name is @scratcscout37.” I looked at the other person. “And yours?” “@_low_profile_. Nice to meet you all!” We talked for a long time, and it was actually pretty fun. Then we realized it was already 7:50, and none of us has gotten ready! We took turns in the bathroom and rushed to breakfast. Luckily, nobody noticed we were gone. We ate some breakfast (hash browns and bagels) and each person went to their counselors. I suddenly shuddered, because I remembered last night, when they had yelled at two students about a simple attic. Why? “Alright guys! Today’s task is just to get to know each other! Let’s all head to main cabin.” Said Alba. I looked around at the crowd I was in and noticed our cabins had grown to 31 people! Surprisingly, more rooms had “shown themselves”, as Alba had put it. I had asked her about it on day three, when I noticed a new room ten, eleven, and twelve. “What do you mean? They were always there. You just didn’t notice.” She said, and then disappeared. I doubted it. We reached the main cabin, introduced ourselves (awkwardly), and then Sini spoke. “Who here is interested in workshop?” We all raised our hands. “Right.” she said, smiling. Well, follow me. She led us to a building near the library, rec room, and main cabin. Of course, it looked like a log cabin, but this one looked different. There were long tables with stacks of paper, computers, tablets, pens, pencils, notepads, everything a writer needs. “So,” Sini continued, “@-ChocoLoco- has designed an amazing workshop for this week called grammar and punctuation. You are encouraged to write a short story about this! Begin!” Suddenly, all the tension was gone, replaced with the need to WRITE. People were typing, writing, even discussing ideas. ANYTHING to win the word count! “Sini, do we have to complete it today?” Said Mango. “Of course not! This is a weekly workshop!” She replied with a smile. I smiled with determination and began the opening of my short story.
