Day 1: As I rode the bus, I sighed, and thought about what I was doing. I mean, its not everyday you get to go to a speacil writing camp. But, now, staring out the dark window, I regretted not telling anyone... I had started the day with butterflies in my stomach, neatly packing my belongings. I had said goodbye to my mom, dad, brother, dog... But everyone thought I was going, to well, a NORMAL camp. This place was definetly not normal... I headed to what looked like a large log cabin. Some people seemed to recognize it. Others, like me, did not. We were met there by a half blind old lady, with a misty white eye. One by one, she whispered to each student and handed them a letter. It was my turn. I gulped and headed to her, wondering if I would even sleep that night. She whispered in my ear, in the sweetest voice I've ever heard, "Do not fret, new one. This camp is for ALL writers." I was suprised by her kind words, but before I could say anything, she handed me the letter, and I was forced to leave. By now it was raining. It was only a light drizzle, but the clouds overhead said a bigger storm might be coming. I trudged through the muddy puddles, trying not to get my sneakers wet, when I heard someone yelling my name. I turned and let out a sigh of relief. It was my friend, @star_drop, clutching a similar letter and running towards me. "Hi!" I yelled through the wind. I smiled. I was glad to see a familiar face. She caught up, and panting, said "Hi! Do you know what cabin you'll be in?" "What?" "There's different themed cabins." she replied, smiling. "It says in the letter." I opened it. "Greetings!" I read aloud, "You have been invited to the classical cabin! Please be there before 8pm." I looked up. "What cabin are you in?" Her smile wavered a bit. 'Horror." "Horror." I repeated. I tried to hide my fear for star's sake. "Is it spooky?" "I don't know." she replied. A camp counsler shouted something, and star perked up. "Listen, I gotta go! Good luck with your cabin!" she yelled, and with that, she ran to the counsler, leaving me alone in the pouring rain with a soaked letter. I found the cabin. I gotta say, I did not expect something this good. The “cabin” was more like a mansion, with its huge structure and its velvety curtains. I even heard some orchestra within. Lost in thoughts, I didn’t notice the stranger behind me until they tapped me on shoulder. “Ah! You scared me!” I said “Sorry about that,” said the stranger through the gloom. “but let’s get out of this tempest, shall we?” “Tempest?” I thought. But I still walked on with the stranger. I couldn’t see anything except their hand, illuminated by the lantern they were carrying. They held open one of the great oak doors. “Here you are now. Get a good nights rest, or Icy will yell at you.” “Icy?” “It’s a long story. Now, get in.” I listened, and stepped in. The door closed behind me. I took of my soaking coat and hung it on a hook. I found myself in a grand hall, with 21 other kids. Some were chatting, some were eating, and most were either writing or reading near a huge central fire place with huge, cushy armchairs. I sat down in one, took a gooey chocolate chip cookie, and nibbled it. The more I stayed here, the more comfortable I felt. I let my mind wander to writing ideas..... “Um, excuse me?” I was awakened from my thoughts by another girl, probably about ten. “You have a letter.” she said, before scurrying away to other kids her age. I took the letter and opened it. It read: Hi Shar! I’m actually really enjoying the horror cabin! It’s not as bad as you think! Keep in touch! Star I happily read the letter over and over, the warmth inside me growing larger. I was happy that star was happy. Hopefully our cabins would meet up one day. I checked the clock, realizing it was almost 10. But where would I sleep? Luckily, my question was answered quickly. The same cloaked stranger burst through the doors, with two others at her side. They took of their cloaks, revealing- ..... Normal faces. By now, I was strongly questioning the camp, so I assumed the these people would be different too, but they were just three normal kids. “Hello guys.” said the middle one. “We will be your counselors for this session of camp. My name is @Alocasia.” “Mine is @Sunshine_the_Rainbow” said the one on the left. “And mine is @PerfectlyPinkPanda!” Said the one on the right. “Everyone is gonna have an awesome session! Now, let’s all head to bed. It’s a requirement to sleep before 10pm, or else Icy will be mad.” I still didn’t understand who Icy was, but she obviously shouldn’t be messed with. I also noticed no one had gone to bed, because although they were sleepy, most people didn’t know how to navigate the place. We followed the counselors up the stairs to 7 different rooms. (Continued in Notes and Credits)

Description

(continued from the intructions) “This one,” said Alocasia, pointing at the middle door, “is the counselor’s room. It is OUT OF BOUNDS. If you need to find us, head to the main cabin down the mountain. We will also try to split rooms as evenly as possible. There will be 4 rooms of 4 kids, and 2 rooms of 3 kids.” Keeping that in mind, I waited in line to be assigned to a room. I was put into room number seven. There was two other kids there already sleeping, but I didn’t know who they were. The room was lavished, with red curtains, big beds, and small lamps. There was also a little table with a couple of notepads. I sighed with content, and changed into my pajamas, and layed down in bed. I was ready for tommorow.
