Description

Estimates by me may differ from official reports - The 1935 Labor Day Hurricane (Also known as Hurricane Three) is the made the strongest and most intense landfall in the ATL basin by my estimates. The Labor day hurricane started off near the Bahamas before rapidly intensifying into a category 5 with winds of 190+ MPH and striking the Florida Keys. The storm then moved parallels to the west coast of Florida and made landfall in the panhandle as a significantly weakened category 2. The storm then moved into the open Atlantic and became extratropical. The Labor Day hurricane killed over 400 people and caused $100 million dollars in damages, which would be $1.9B today. The Labor Day Hurricane was the first of four known hurricanes to make a category 5 landfall in the US, with the others being Camille (1969), Andrew (1992), and Michael (2018) - Tags: #Scratchmaster295 #TropicalCyclone #Hurricane #Meteorology #LaborDayHurricane #HurricaneThree #Weather #Category5 #Animations #Florida
