She was one of the first successful test subjects called Project Forest. They raised her there for almost her whole life providing what she needed and all, and it was pretty happy. By the time they thought she was ready to be released into the actual world animal hybrids were quite common and the people who weren't part animal were most likely covered in mechanical parts. Basically this freaked her out a lot so she fled into a forest- So yea. World full of cyborgs and human animal hybrids.
