Instructions

This is for Eliz's (@musicaI-) voice collab! This symbol " represents air quotes There is peer pressure on Scratch just like everywhere else in the world But I find most of it seems to be about being an artist. So you are a new scratcher and you joined scratch to learn to code. The first couple of projects you make will be with the scratch sprites. Then you find out that it's "not cool" to use the scratch sprites. You find out that most people draw with vector. If your an artist it's great! It's a great way to share your art. For the people who like art but it isn't their passion they feel demotivated and down. It feels like every "famous" scratcher does art. How do I know this? Because I don't like to do digital art, I prefer other stuff. You feel so demotivated you try art, because everyone else is doing art and it's getting them "famous" Another kind of peer pressure is usernames Aesthetic usernames For more about that see my project here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/480647142 We feel pressured to go with what everyone else is doing and especially with usernames it can lead to moving ALL the time So this is called peer pressure. Your pressured into doing things that seem "poplar". This happens irl as well, just differently I guess. Anyways it can make you feel demotivated, that your not good enough, and leave you feeling, have I made the right choice? And it makes you go with what everyone else is doing, even if you don't like it I googled peer pressure and this came up: Peer pressure is the direct influence on people by peers, or the effect on an individual who is encouraged and wants to follow their peers by changing their attitudes, values or behaviors to conform to those of the influencing group or individual. We get pressurized. Now.. How do we stop feeling pressurized on Scratch? 1. When you feel the pressure to do something, stand up and walk away from your computer/mobile device. Think "do I really want to this? Is it what I want?" 2. When viewing a type of project (lets say art) try and not look at the view counts, love counts, fav etc. We all do care about that stuff a little and it can make you feel pressurized. Put the project in full screen mode. 3. Make a project about something YOU like! Another note: On scratch caring about loves, favs, views and follows is generally viewed as "bad". It's true that obsessing over it is bad but if you get, lets say 10 loves and your proud of it say it! If you get 100 followers and your happy say it! If your project is getting curated and your practically jumping up and down in joy SAY IT! It's fine to care about followers and stuff we are humans after all <3 Anyways thats it for today! Thanks for reading this long rant! It's for Eliz's (@musicaI-) voice collab! Also I unshared the original because the thumbnail was mixed up xD
