Note: Theia is the protoplanet that hit Earth. Forgot to mention that. I know i didn't actually explain what the magnetic field does. What it does is it deflects solar radiation to the poles which causes the northern lights, and keeps the rest of the world *mostly* safe from the suns radiation. Magnetic fields form when the metal cores of planets spin inside the planet which acts as a giant magnet around the planet shielding it from the sun and cosmic rays.
