Instructions

WASD or cursor keys to move the player and navigate the world in gameplay mode. S or down arrow to drop through semisolid platforms, tap W or up arrow when close to a hook in midair to perform a HOOK JUMP. This can only be done while falling in midair, and within a certain distance of the hook. In addition, you can press P to toggle between level-editing mode and gameplay mode. When editing a level, WASD will move the player (without physics), and the left and right arrow keys will change the selected tile type. Click to place tiles. IJKL to navigate the world. Any level that you edit will be autosaved whenever you switch modes or move around the world, but you can also save manually by pressing enter. IF YOU DON'T REMIX, ANY LEVELS YOU HAVE MADE OR EDITED WILL NOT BE SAVED IF YOU LEAVE OR RELOAD THE PAGE. This is the first project I've shared in ages, but I might just keep working on it! Please do give as much feedback (positive or negative) and as many ideas as you want. I love to hear it, and it helps me improve!

Description

v1.7: Mar 1, 2021 New areas added, and added an experimental Glide ability, automatically unlocked when you start the game. Hold W or UP ARROW in midair to transform your scarf into a glider. Also added the DEEPSTONE MARKET tileset, only used in one area for now. Finally, did some bugfixes and physics tweaks, as well as fixing up a massive lagspike when on semisolids. v1.6: Feb 24, 2021 Added the first NPC! This floaty lad will chat you up and give you a bit of information, but currently serves no other purpose (Sorry, Rafae!). Up next: Ability animations and more themes, outside of the starting one. v1.5: Feb 23, 2021 The world map is now exploration-based, meaning it will fill out as you explore the world. Also added some new areas. v1.4: Feb 23, 2021 The world map is now a, well, a world MAP! Press ENTER while in gameplay mode to access the map. As of this version, the map shows the entire world, this will be patched soon to only let the player see areas they've visited. v1.3: Feb 23, 2021 In addition to a load of behind-the-scenes bugfixes and gameplay improvements, wall jumping is now an obtainable ability. You don't have it from the start any more, so make sure to find that ability shrine! I also added and fine-tuned a text engine, so hopefully I'll add some bits and bobs to do with that soon. Finally, the world map has gotten larger again! v1.2: Feb 11, 2021 Hook jumping is now an obtainable ability! You have to find and activate the ability shrine before you can start flinging yourself through the air again. Also added a few more areas. v1.1: Feb. 9, 2021 EMERGENCY BUGFIXES. Due to my own lack of foresight, I missed a load of startup bugs. These have been duly squashed. Also added a couple more areas. Earliest full working version - v1: Feb. 9, 2021 Everything works well, and as expected. Many tiles already ingame, wall-jumping and passing down through semisolids are toggleable, and hook jumping is implemented. Only a tiny world map is developed so far, but it showcases all current mechanics. Dead ends to be followed up on. Non-functional ability tablet and shrine have been added, will eventually give hook jump ability.
