Instructions

Dear Scratch Community, This letter of mine isn't going to be funny. It's not going to be filled with jokes, or with petty puns. This is my statement, my stance on things going on in the Scratch community. If you do not care for these things, then leave. Now. I do not want hate comments. We all good? Kay. Let's start. Toxicity. Yes, you've heard the word many times before. But what does it mean, internet wise? Toxicity is when a group of people have become super rude or mean to others. An example being the situation with @OreoPopPupper, where people are commenting on his/her projects and saying, and I quote, "You're style is gross, and isn't as cute as @OmbraTheFurry2's." .... WHAT. THE. HECKLE. It's called an ART STYLE. What's an art style? Art style is basically the manner in which the artist portrays his or her subject matter and how the artist expresses his or her vision. It's meant to be UNIQUE. Can you imagine how the world would be if all the music sounded the same? If all of the people looked like you? If all the buildings were just copies of other buildings? It would be boring, wouldn't it? Another thing that needs to change. We, the creators of content that you may love, are NOT robots. We are NOT YouTubers. We are NOT streamers. We DO NOT do this for a living. We do it for fun, or as a hobby. We are NOT here for your gosh-darn entertainment, so get that outta your thick skull. Stop spamming your favorite creators about "adding my character," or "are you still online?" or heck even "where's the next project, I want the next project!" SHHHHUSH. Another thing. Spamming. It's dumb, in all honesty. Who in their right mind would think that constantly yelling at someone would get them to pay attention to you? It'll just make them ignore you MORE. Jeez. Then you've got all the things an artist tries to avoid. Art thieves, mass reporters, people looking for fame. It's almost like being a T.V. star. How do we know that blah here really want's to be out friend, when they could be out to gain fame from us? Also, just a quick side note, I think wanting fame is dumb. Do you really know how much stress goes into being famous? Like, jeez, you gotta crank out projects every day or else your followers get mad at you, and then you have to deal with tracers and art thieves, and then you gotta deal with jerkwads just out to get a reaction from you. Being famous has it's perks, doesn't it? And lastly, bullying. Cyberbullies will be common everywhere. It can't be helped. I wish it could, but it can't. But bullying on a kid-friendly website, where most of the Scratch population is still in Elementary School? That's just dumb. I have a friend. You may have heard of her, @Blackout_Twilight? Yeah, she hasn't been on her account in almost a year because people were bullying her. And then to top it off, people mass-reported her and got her banned, and she hasn't been able to get back on. Nice, right? To anyone who does these things to other creators, let me say this here and now. How would you feel if this happened to you? Before making a nasty comment, think about that question. Before mass-reporting someone just because they said the wrong thing, think about that question. Before making fun of someone's art style, think about that question. Because I can guarantee that one day, when you have a mass follower count, or when your famous, it will happen to you. And karma'll come knocking. Signed, J.C. Studios
