Chapter 1: Trench sat on the south beach of the Island Palace. The sun was setting but not in her direction. Ever since the animus test when Trench turned three, life was never the same. The Queen always wanted her in eyesight, she was put into special classes and worst of all she hardly ever saw her brother Angler anymore. Trench wished badly that she could just go back to being that small, two-year-old dragonet that her only problems were escaping the hugs of her loving brother. A few times she had almost enchanted something to do that but if she did that then the Queen would be furious and lock her up. On the day of the animus test, ten dragonets were lined up on a small island away from other dragons. Trench was at the end of the line and could see Angler in the middle. He had just turned four a month ago but had to wait for other dragonets to do the test. Trench had turned three a week ago so she had barely made the cut to do the test. Soon two dragons swooped down onto the beach and stood in front of the dragonets. All at once, the ten dragonets bowed, as they had been taught to, to Queen Cobalt and Princess Isonade. Queen Cobalt was a deep blue and had sky blue wings and underbelly, she had a kind and gentle face but eyes that said ‘If you mess with me, I have no problem killing you’. Princess Isonade on the other talon was a baby-blue color mixed with indigo, her underbelly and wings were a deep purple that was almost black but not quite. Isonade looked more bored than interested in coming along and the only reason she was brought along was that the Queen needed someone to replace her old animus, who should have come along since they had died long ago. As soon as the dragonets came up, Trench started to panic. {Oh no, what if I do something wrong, what if I mess up, what if I collapse and start crying like a one-year-old because of something I didn’t do.} When Trench calmed down she looked up and saw the Queen clearing her throat. “Good morning dragonets. You all know that today you will be taking the animus test to see if you are an animus,” said Cobalt, “The rules are simple. You will each take the coconut that is in front of you and you will ask it to come gently in front of me, the return to you. You may all start.” Trench could see all the other dragonets whisper or stare furiously at their coconut. She also caught a glimpse of Angler whispering to his coconut many times. Trench picked her coconut up and looked at it for a bit wondering what would happen if she ate it instead. She decided it was better that she would do the spell inside her head and wait to see if it worked. {Alright you hairy coconut, I command you to land in Queen Cobalt’s lap gently and then come back to me.} Before Trench could lift her gaze from her empty palm and process what was happening, Princess Isonade let out a yelp of surprise. Finally, Trench looked up to see the coconut coming right back to her. It hit her in the chest and knocked her over with such a force that she landed in the water. When Trench got back up she saw everyone looking at her. Everyone’s expressions ranged from surprise to jealousy, to confusion, and awe. When she found Angler his face was a mix of pride and concern, she didn’t know why. After that, the Queen had dismissed everyone and ordered Trench to move into the royal palace. {How is it that me, a dragonet that doesn’t do good in school, gets into lots of trouble, and doesn’t listen to Dad, become an animus, she thought vigorously. This is too much responsibility.}
So first off this was inspired by @RaiDrawsStuff since she shared her story. Second, this is about my Seawing Oc Trench and her life. Third, my chapters are long and it wouldn't let me put it all at once soo looks like I have To share my chapters in pieces too. Four, please do not steal my art (like anyone would steal my art) or my story and claim it as your story. Fifth, the drawing is Trenches earring of a sea turtle but that comes in later in the chapter. Sixth, it might take me a long time to do this so be patient. Seventh, I'm fine if you make fan art, comment on what you think, post something about what you think will happen next, etc. Finally, this is a WiP and If I make a prophecy, prologue, or epilogue it might come later.
