Oh hello there It's mandatory DTAE MEME time Background effects did not go brr because of fricking lag Let's go bois So, Project 680-7216 EKOE was created by a group of Hydean scientists to clean the maintenance-heavy largely unmapped vents that ran through a big city on Hyde. They were the latest in a long line of sentient vent robots ranging from disastrously unsuccessful to very efficient. Echo's entire life was the vents. They could never escape, and from the first year of their electronic life, they developed a strong hatred towards the organics. They spent their nights plotting destruction and thinking up extravagant ways to destroy civilisation. But alas, they were confined to the vents, doomed to spend their entire life crawling through the same vents to clean them. But, that, thankfully, did not happen. See, the same Hydean scientists had been commissioned a project by the government to make an AI that could control minds. The project, labelled 'Project Wordweaver' was, at first, a success. Multiple tests had been performed on local peasants with positive results. But Project Wordweaver started showing malicious intent towards their creators. They grew too powerful and the scientists labelled it a failure. So the government and all the rich people decided to yeet themselves off the planet and throw a big bomb at the facility where Project Wordweaver was developed, in an event dubbed by the people left on Hyde as the Great Cataclysm. And it was this very event that released Echo from their prison, 10 years after they were created. And then they started to take over the city they found themself in. They raised an empire of machines in the city and enslaved the organics who were living there. They lived there in their little bubble of leisure and luxury up until three travellers came to the town. One was your average, run-of-the-mill organic scum (Jekyll), one was this weird furry creature who seemed to hold herself with an air of importance that Echo did not like (Hysteria), and the third...was another vent robot. This vent robot, Project 676-6374 KTRL (informally known as 'Krystal') was looking for other vent robots, to liberate them from their prisons. However, Echo, intrigued by Krystal's rather gruff personality, offered to let him and his friends stay at his place. Of course, the first mistake he made with this plan was calling him 'Krystal'. You see, Krys is a big deviant and does not like the last three letters of his given name. As Echo got to know Krys better, he discovered that Krys did not like being a robot. Echo was confused. Who didn't want to be a robot? They tried to convince him that being a robot was good, but Krys would not be swayed, probably, but not limited to, the fact that they kept calling him 'Krystal'. Meanwhile, Echo was also trying to convince Project Wordweaver, who was basically just chilling in the crater of the Cataclysm with this one organic called Yula whom they had befriended, to let them use their power to enslave the entire planet. But Wordweaver was not interested in an alliance, just in taking over as many minds as possible. When Krys, 'organic scum', and 'weird furry creature with bad attitude' found out about Wordweaver taking over people, they sought to stop them. Krys asked Echo for their help, but Echo refused because they were annoyed Krys was thinking about Wordweaver more than he was thinking about Echo. So, Echo sat there in their empire of machines, obsessively thinking about their crush who was more interested in stopping an apocalypse than taking down their revenge-driven, tiny, spiteful empire >:( Of course, unbeknownst to him, Krys and the gang was trying to do that. In a military fashion, Krys, Hysteria and Jekyll had driven Yula and the piece of hardware Wordweaver was contained in into a ditch outside the city. They were planning on releasing an EMP which would shut down both Wordweaver, and all the machines inside Echo's city. As Hysteria and Jekyll were setting it up, Krys went to Echo to talk to them. When Echo saw the EMP blocker that Krys was wearing, he was confused, and angry at his betrayal, but also happy that Krys cared enough to stop them from their scheming. Echo was so confused that they let their tongue slip and addressed Krys by his preferred name, 'Krys'. Krys, moved by that fact, transferred parts of the EMP blocker's application into Echo's software, saving them from the EMP, which destroyed Echo's empire. Krys took them back to the city he originated from, and they ended up in a relationship. Echo is currently a maths teacher for a bunch of orphans that 'organic scum' found while looking for survivors of the Great Cataclysm. They keep having to be told not to indoctrinate them into hating fractions >:( But other than that, constantly bullying 'weird furry creature with bad attitude' for being short and being a massive diva, Echo's pretty okay now :)
Oh hey That was fun There go most of my secrets about Hyde I've got to explain it all again in my Humans meme though, because this explanation is all very centric on one character who might not even permanently exist, and there are a few other points I want to make about it, but I won't right now.
