Description

Hello everyone! These are the Leader Applications for our March session of SWC. Before I start our obligatory FAQ, I would like to thank @candylanguagegirl for creating swc and hosting the first two sessions, @theenderqueen for hosting the 3rd session, @eciipsed for hosting four sessions, @sunshine_the_rainbow for hosting the 8th and 10th sessions, and @-icicie- and @perfectlypinkpanda for hosting this session with me. ~ FAQ ~ (please read *all of it* even if you've been leader before. things have changed!) 1. What is SWC? SWC is a triannual virtual writing camp. It runs for the months of March, July and November, and you make a word goal for yourself, and try to reach that by the end of camp. There's also a competitive aspect with cabin points (there are 13 cabins- you'll be in one of them), and you can do activities such as word sprints or word crawls for points. The camp goes from the 1st of March to the 31st of March and it's online so you can be there 5 minutes or 3 hours a day, at any time. 2. When is my (co) leader application due? 11:59pm est on January 16th. 3. When will you be choosing (co) leaders? On January 17th, Icy, Li and I will decide, and one of us will notify all of the leaders sometime that day. Co-leaders will be chosen by the leaders, not us, between the 17th of January and the 1st of February. 4. How do co leaders work? Each cabin (see below for a list of cabins!) needs two co leaders. As mentioned above, the cabin leaders will choose their co leaders, not Icy, Li and I. If you're only interested in running for co, please mention that in your app. You are not allowed to advertise your application to the chosen leaders, and we will be monitoring this. 5. What are the differences between leader and co leader? leaders generally have more responsibility than the co leaders. They are more 'in charge' of the cabin, which could potentially mean making more decisions. All leaders are promoted in the main cabin, and expected to help add points there, whereas co leaders aren't. both co leaders and leaders generally add words in their cabin. 6. What are the cabin names? ~ mystery ~ science fiction (sci-fi) ~ contemporary ~ realistic fiction (real-fi) ~ horror ~ thriller ~ adventure ~ historical fiction (hi-fi) ~ fantasy ~ dystopian ~ fairy tales ~ mythology ~ poem ~ You don't have to write the genre of your cabin name! It's simply a name :) 7. Is there a backup cabin? Not currently, as we’ve added backup cabins to our full-time roll in the past (poem, mythology, fairy tales). If we get more campers than last session, we will look into the idea. 8. I've never been a leader and/or participated in swc before. Can I apply/will more experienced people be chosen over me? *THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ* There's now new criteria for applying for SWC leader – to have been a camper twice OR a co-leader once. You can be a co-leader without experience! Other than that, we choose only based on how good your application is, with the three main criteria of creativity, personality and answer quality. 9. When are camper signups out? February 1st! comment if you want to be notified for them. 10. Why do I need to include my timezone? this is a very small factor in choosing leaders and co leaders, as we don't want all the leaders to be in the one timezone! that would make the adding of points and words more difficult. 11. How do you communicate with leaders and co leaders? We have a discussion forum. 12. How will I know if my application has been seen? Icy and I are going to be loving all applications when we've seen them – and Li likely will too. We'll also go through all of them at the end though, in case you've changed something! I’ll also get a notification whenever you remix. In conclusion, there’s no need to link it in the comments! For any other questions, just ask them in the comments <3 thumbnail + background image: canva! music: rather be: clean bandit + jess glynne! Good luck, everyone! And Happy New Year ^^
