During the fight, you will have a partner, that you got in the core (since areas are inverted: Hotland > Waterfall > Snowdin > Ruins). You can interact with it and see its appearance. Sans attacks do okay damage, and with your partner healing 2 HP and each item healing 10, you'll be fine... I think? Bag contains your 5 monster candies and will heal 10 HP when you press X.
