This was the most voted, so here's my art process! Keep in mind that I draw in the Scratch Vector Editor, and that this isn't recommended as a tutorial. It might not work for everyone, and that's fine. You should try your own drawing style, but you can use these as tips. I drew Sofia the Recrutidor, from Pit People. alright, space or click for next! ----- 1. decent thumbnail 2. I always do black. I usually have my brush at 3, but for more complex designs I do 2. 3. I start with the head shape. You know that sketch and cross stuff that good artists do? I don't do that lol. I'm a freehander, which means I do just lineart. It also means that my proportions are always off and that I'm lazy heh. Don't be afraid to keep redoing this step until you like the shape. I never like the first head shape I do. Imagine your own chin, or a U or a semi-circle. 4. Do the hair pattern. On the side I drew some examples, the bottom two are Shoko's and Prismane's (my main OC's). McDonald's hairline not included. 5. The eyes! I have a specific eye style that works for me. You can add an eyelid on the top to deepen the expression. If you would like to, add eyelashes. Be creative and play around! Note that though a character has eyelashes, it doesn't always mean that they're female. Gender expression is different than gender identity. Sofia, though, is female. 6. You may be wondering why I did an entire slide for eyebrows. Well, that's because they were tricky for me a lot and it took a while to master. They can help with expression, but if you want a normal expression then try to keep the curve down. 7. Like the eyes, I have a specific mouth style which means I attach it to the face. This might be hard, so keep in mind I don't recommend this as a tutorial lol. There are several examples on the side. 8. Make sure the neck isn't too thin or too thick. I have no idea why I made an entire slide for the neck. 9. The arms and hands! I don't use sketches and stuff, but if you want to you can use three circles to help regulate the bumps. Keep the hands not too thin or thick (in proportion with the shoulders). I overuse this pose a lot, so you can be creative unlike me. 10. My hand style is rectangular fingers. Most people don't do this, but I find this is funner and more easy for me. It's best not to have gaps in the side hands. For the peace sign, use your own hand as reference. 11. I added more detail to Sofia's clothes. It's hard for me to draw short sleeves so I kinda changed her outfit. There's a mini guide on the side of how I draw hoodies, because 90% of OC's these days have hoodies. 12. The waist! It can be hard to keep the waist in proportion, so don't be scared to try over and over again until you get it right. I added the little bandanna that Sofia has. You can draw lines on the clothing to add a nice wrinkled effect. I don't usually do this lol. 13. I had to move her up a little to show the legs. These are pretty easy (for me), so just remember to keep them the same size. 14. Shoes are pretty basic. Though no one stands like this, I find it's easiest to draw people standing this way. 15. Now you see why I waited to do the hair. I don't really know how to explain this, but I'll try. I like to add my own little thing on the end, but it's optional. I haven't done these curls ever before, so I think it looks okay. You can do any hairstyle you want! 16. I shrunk it to fit. It's okay if you draw a little bigger than what fits, just move it up to make sure all your lines are even. 17. Time for flat coloring! Notice here I never use "100% colors", aka colors that are 100% everything. I used a nice pinkish shade for Sofia's hair. Make sure to use the fill tool and not just the brush tool lol. 18. I started to color it here... 19. The annoying thing about vector is if you don't touch the things completely, it won't fill it in. You just have to close it. There are a lot more annoying things about vector, like when you switch from the bucket tool to the brush and the thing you filled in turns black. 20. I filled it in here! Some things look missing though. 21. The eyebrows are still there, just hit the back tool. This is really helpful for shading too, but we'll get to that. Just click it once, and you'll see it appear. 22. I moved a lot of stuff back. 23. For the mouth, I use a low saturated dark pink. It was hard for me to find a good mouth color at first. 24. For the eyes, I made up a pattern-based personality code for the patterns inside the pupils. I'll reveal it at 500 followers. For you, though, you can just make up your own or do none at all. On the right is all my patterns. If you're wondering what they mean, you should follow me hehehe. I hide hints in my OC lore though, so make sure to check that out. 25. I don't usually do real lighting, so here's my terrible way of faking it. I don't change the hue at all when I do this, I just make it lighter. 26. Shading tips! When I say "70", I mean the number that shows above it. (cont)
(ugh desc was too long) Also, I change my pen thickness to 4 or whatever is the next one up when I shade. 27. tipz 28. Most of the time I use shapes and boxes for the shading to fill in later. Remember, if it isn't closed off 100%, the vector editor will not accept it as a whole. You can use some of my shading ways here, I do it a bit different than most artists. 29. I filled it in. It looks a little messy though... 30. Remember when I moved the hair back? Well move the lineart to the front. It looks a lot better. Still looks kinda messy... 31. I didn't mean to include this lmao 32. Use the reshape tool to get all the shading in the lines. 33. fixed! Looks nicer now. 34. tips. when I say move it back, move the shading back and then move the flat color back. 35. I love adding backgrounds that look like this. This is my signature background, so just make a big square of one color, and the a bunch of squares and circles around it. 36. You're done! I hope you guys enjoyed this and I hope I helped you. You don't just have to use these methods in SVE, like I use MS paint sometimes. Y'all are ebic <3 shoutouts: @HehtorOCH, @crazytalkproductions, @XxHooded-FigurexX, @catluver9, @JeffyJaff, @DerpyNoob667, and everyone who voted! creditses: music is the trap by tally hall everyone who voted character is Sofia from pit people, owned by the Behemoth game company.
