At birth, she was examined for imperfections. If they found any, she would be thrown to the badlands. Luckily, she wasn't discarded, but it didn't mean she was safe. If she messed up three small times, she would have her rights and citizenship stripped away from her, and would be sent to the world below. "The rule has been enacted to shield our world from terrorists." -The Highest Power (aka the dictator) Eve was orphened at age 3 after both her birth-parents were... taken away... for smuggling goods and possesion of smuggled goods. Taking away is a fancy way of saying they would never see the light of day for the rest of their lives. When Eve was 10, she got a gift from her parents (her parents left her a gift for her 10th birthday). It was a magic set and book from before their democracy was overthrown. It was one of the most illegal things in existance. Eve was quick to pick up on magic, and she also broke out of her perfect shell. On the outside, she had to stay perfect, but on the inside, she could be whatever she wanted. She became obsessed with everything related to magic, illusions, and manipulation. She spent 10 years perfecting her abilities, but became a wanted criminal for assisting several underground rebellion rings. She got a nickname as the red rebel. To her, it was fun... until one day, she was found and captured, and... taken away. Her years in the badlands were long and brutal, and she had barely an ounce of forgiveness left in her. All she thought about was her revenge... and magic. She didn't care what she had to sacrifice as long as she could get what she desired. Eve's prison mates were all just as broken and eager to escape. However, the things that kept her going were seeing the smiling faces on the kids that watched her magic... and her escape plot. She had finally perfected it. The next morning, when the guards were taking a roll count in the courtyard, they noticed one was missing. And like that, Eve had escaped. Now, Eve lives among the normal population, waiting for her chance. (to get one thing straight, she is a protagonist, not a good person)
