Fire it grows, it spreads, it burns To watch the frozen midnight turn And when the burning is complete The bird will rest upon its feet. To cry for help is all in vain; It will come again, again To watch the frozen midnight turn And all the cities, they will burn. They'll rise to life, again, again, To fall beneath the birdie's name They cry, they cry, but hope is lost The bird will rule a land of frost The frost will burn beneath his wings To fold the land in dark evening He'll climb up to the highest cloud And shriek his cry of laughter loud To fall to earth in fireball From the clouds, to consume all.
