2 Jugs Problems - Click the Green Flag to Start then ... Set Problem Slider (n) to the one you wish to solve (Do Problem n) - start an attempt to solve Problem n (Left Tap) - fill Jug 1 or (Right Tap) - fill Jug 2 (Empty j) - empty Jug j completely of its contents (To 2>) - transfer (as much as fits) from Jug1 > Jug2 (<To 1) - transfer (as much as fits) from Jug2 > Jug1 The aim is to measure out exactly "Solution Litres" of water using only the Fill, Empty & Transfer buttons, in as few Moves as you can. "Target" is how how many moves you should be able to solve each Problem in. There's always at least 2 ways to solve any Problem!

Description

Created by @gregatku for use in Coding Classes for Kids Unlimited, for whom I work as a Coding teacher. This project was created purely & simply for an Online Mathematics class, where I want to get students to learn how to solve a few of the many 2 Jugs class of Problems. It's not too sophisticated, but it does the job. I used to show them on a gridded portable whiteboard in the days of face-to-face classes, but this is a better way, anyway. It's Touch Screen friendly, too. For those of you who read this far, there are basically 2 approaches to solving this class of problem. You always transfer water from one Jug to the other in one direction, but never mix & match. All the Target Scores were determined by only transferring water from Jug 2 to Jug 1, I call it the Right-hand way. But every Problem can also be solved by going the Left-hand way, that is only transferring water from Jug 1 to Jug 2. Most of the 10 problems take more moves going the Left-hand way, but there are a few exceptions. In particular Problem No. 10 is both the hardest and the easiest Problem to solve at the same time. It takes the most number of moves of all 10 Problems to solve going the Right-hand way, namely 26. But going the Left-hand way it can be solved in 4 moves, making it the easiest Problem of the lot!
