There is a hard-to-see panel on the back, take it off and put the cord in the USB, then it will gain the coordinates of the area. There is another button in the front, after the USB drive is done converting the coordinates into it, click the button to send a portal to that area. The portal on the other side does not exist, the item will appear after fully going into the portal you would see when you shoot it.
