I didn't finish the drawing for obvious reasons(the tiny lines everywhere). Also I'm not done with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or the manga(I'm finished volume 6 like a week ago) yet so no spoilers! Also disclaimer, this project doesn't mean insult FMA by any means. It's my favorite thing right now and I love it but this part just made me extremely confused. Aight so let's go! So according to the manga at the start of the series Roy Mustang is 29 years old. Why do I have a problem with that well let's see- While I couldn't find anything on the age restriction to join the military in Japan (which isn't where the story is located based on other countries and the country the story takes place in doesn't exist). Also since I'm basing this off my knowledge of military junk I'm just gonna go with 18. (Yes I do know this takes place in the early 1900s but even then I'm pretty sure the lowest you could go in at was like 16) So that means he's only been in the military for 11 years. And since at the start of volume 1 it's been about 3 years since he was promoted to Colonel. So if we were supposed to divide the amount of years by 3 (and round it amount of years to 12) you would get 4. So he should have only been promoted about 4 times if he had the average of 3 years. Meaning that Major(which according to two characters being a state alchemist is equivalent to being a major) would have to be only 4 ranks below Colonel. Also Also even if you divided 8 by 2 (since we know there was that 3 year gap we have to subtract 3 from 11, and 1 year is like impossible just how considering it can take you a year to actually get promoted when the higher-ups said you would be) he would have only gone up 5 ranks. Do you guys see my problem with this? It doesn't really make sense. Anyways, if any of you guys viewing this have more knowledge than me please feel free to correct me on anything. Anyways, I ate chicken for Thanksgiving.
