this will all be green flag stuff - you need a picoboard to tinker with it the playful invention company originally developed them - http://www.picocricket.com/picoboard.html and now the Sparkfun company makes them- (they are still too expensive - they should do a new version without the build in sensors and just have 4 resistance ports - try to get it to $20-25)
the old picoboards work very nicely now... so starting to use them with 2.0 just got a sparkfun picoboard today and it works very well
