| Chapter One | Moonrise | Moonrise’s first memory was a wet tongue washing over her fur. It was warm here with her mother’s fluffy fur and the murmurs of her father and mother as she snuggled by her brothers. She missed this feeling. Her mother had soon died after she was born and she was given to another Mother there in her pack with her brothers. Their new mother’s name was Bird, and she was the alpha's mate. The alpha was a strong broad shouldered brown fox with scars all over his pelt. When Moonrise saw him she was instantly terrified and her brothers constantly picked on her. Which made it worse than living without her loving mother, her brothers, Dusk and Xeon both would eventually grow up to become betas but Moonrise… not so much. She was the runt of the litter; her brothers were always faster learners then she was. Her trainer in the pack was called Leaf. She was an omega which made her position very low in the pack, but Moonrise liked her, as she was one of the only foxes that would pay attention to her other than Bird. She trained her every day in the moves of other packs that she had learned while she was an outsider, and Moonrise loved it. She could even beat her brothers now. The time had come for her to become a full member of the pack, and Leaf watched proudly as Corrinth touched his nose to her forehead, Her brothers and step mother watched proudly and solemnly, she gazed around at her pack who met her eyes. When the ceremony was over she padded up to Leaf who was talking to Aster, a huge fox-wolf hybrid “You know what they’ll say if you tell them” he whispered to her. She glared at him “I trained her to the best of my ability. Now she will trust me!” she whispered back at him. Then she Moonrise, standing there with large confused eyes “Moonrise! I didn't see you there.” she said, clearly faking her surprise. Moonrise looked at Aster, hoping for an explanation but all she got was a steely stare. She stood and backed away and dashed to Bird. She saw that she was scared and pulled her in tight, licking the top of her head. Corrith walked over, keeping an eye on the two omegas suspicoulsy, his pupils narrowed. Bird beckoned him over and he padded over, fur rippling suspiciously. Happily, he nuzzled Bird as Moonrise watched her brothers play-fight nearby. Their moves matched perfectly with what Zinc had taught them. She looked towards Leaf, her own trainer but she was scared of her and how weird she’d been acting lately. She didn't want to be a full member of the pack yet, she wasn't ready to leave the warmth of Bird’s fur and move on.
