For those of you who don't know, today, November 24, 2020, is the 29 year anniversary of Freddie Mercury and Eric Carr's deaths. (it might be 11/25 or 11/23 for some of ya'll but this is what you get no matter what your timezone is, deal with it) If you don't know who Freddie Mercury and/or Eric Carr was/were, do you live under a rock here's some hIStoRy TiME for you cave-dwellers Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of the rock band Queen. He was an amazing singer, and a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Freddie was married to Mary Austin (yes, a woman, shh-) for 6 years, but they broke up in 1976 due to Freddie being gay. He had several other partners, the most well-known being Paul Prenter and Jim Hutton. Freddie wrote numerous hit songs, one of the most well-known and popular being Bohemian Rhapsody. Freddie died on November 24th, 1991 due to complications caused by Aids, as he had been diagnosed with Aids in 1987. The day before his death, he confirmed that he had contracted the disease. - Eric Carr was the drummer of the rock band KISS from 1980 until his untimely death in 1991. When he joined KISS, the members of the band were Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley, three out of four of the founding members of the band. Eric replaced Peter Criss, who had been fired (or "quit") in 1980. Eric was an amazing drummer, and recorded many albums with KISS for 11 years. The last album he recorded with KISS was the album Hot in The Shade (or HiTS for my fellow KISS fans). 'Little Caesar' was the first and only song that Eric would sing for KISS that was truly his own. Though he sang Peter Criss' parts of 'Black Diamond', the song wasn't his own. 'Little Caesar was performed live a few times, but wasn't performed past the first month of the Hot in The Shade tour. Eric Carr died of heart cancer on November 24th, 1991. - So there's your history~ if you want more, just look them up on Wikipedia lol- For the rest of November, I will have the 'Rest in Peace, Freddie and Eric <3' aesthetic up. I hope that some of you will join me in honoring Freddie and Eric. If you do, feel free to use the aesthetic. <3
