Description

This is an unofficial estimate, so stop saying that this isn't correct Super Typhoon Haiyan (Also known as Yolanda) was a very strong Typhoon. The storm hit the Philippines with winds of 185 MPH, making it one of the strongest ever landfalls. The storm killed over 6000, making it the second deadliest Philippine Typhoon. Why I lowered my estimate: Official records have Haiyan at 195 MPH/190 at landfall, with some estimates taking Haiyan to 200 MPH. Because there is no recon in the WPAC, all intensities are estimated by satellite appearance. However, recent tropical cyclones such as eta have shown that satellite appearance can be deceiving. The damage from Haiyan looked similar to the damage from Dorian, and the conditions in the Philippines are about the same as in the Bahamas. That is why I went with 185 MPH, although that in itself may be generous because a considerable amount of damage was from Haiyan's storm surge. I go with a peak of 190 MPH because it looked like it's structure degraded by about 5 MPH. However, we may never know the true intensity of Haiyan. It could be anywhere from 175 to 200+ MPH. #WPACneedsRecon Music: Force 13-Faraway Shores - #Typhoon #Hurricane #TyphoonHaiyan #Haiyan #TyphoonYolanda #Yolanda #SuperTyphoon
