Many, many years before the Great Animus War, the Skywings animus blood in the royal family bore fruit. Crimson was the mother of the earliest recorded animus dragons. When she gave birth to two twins, Ember (image right) and Raptor (image left) Queen Inferno -- the current Skywing queen at the time -- was shocked to see both of the dragonets were animi. Unsure of what to do, Queen Inferno ordered Crimson to kill one of her two dragonets or she would murder Crimson's entire family. Crimson reluctantly agreed, and drove a spear into the heart of the runt of the litter, Ember. No one knows what happened, but most people assumed Ember had enchanted a doll to look like him and snuck out of the castle that night. Ember disguised himself as a Mudwing and flew to their Kingdom, soon falling in love and giving the Mudwings their first animus. The second twin, Raptor, escaped to the Sandwing kingdom years later. A renowned gang leader offered Raptor a spot in the gang, and he agreed. They grew in power and eventually decided to challenge the Skywing queen for her throne when Inferno's guards showed up and hauled Raptor back to the kingdom. Inferno then commanded Raptor to enchant a map showing her the name and location of every living animus and became enraged to find out that there were multiple living animi. She told Raptor she would not kill any of his family members if he set a spell on her courtyard. Raptor agreed and made it so that every animus standing in the courtyard could not move or use powers. He then summoned each one of them there. A Seawing, Rainwing, and Hybrid animus appeared. Inferno went through and killed each living animus, including Ember and Crimson. She was about to kill Raptor as well when Viper -- the gang leader -- and her crew showed up. They battled it out until Inferno and Raptor's bodies lay still on the blood-soaked grass. The new queen, Copper, decided that animi were too dangerous to deal with and put a rule in place stating that each Skywing animus born shall be killed on sight. However, the Sandwings, Seawing, and Rainwing tribes were furious that their animi had been killed. Soon enough, a war broke out. Icewings, Seawings, Sandwings and Rainwings fought with the Skywings, Nightwings, and Mudwings. While the fighting was taking place, the young Mudwing animus that had just hatched took an egg from each tribe and enchanted the egg to hatch an animus. He returned eggs to the Icewings, Rainwings, and Mudwings when he was found by a soldier and killed. The war ended soon after. Today, each queen has their own way of dealing with animi. Rumors have begun to spread of animi still living after the war, but most dragons dismiss it. But there are growing tensions that can't be ignored, and some dragons fear another war breaking out...
