I stood there, motionless, with no life in my eyes. My paws felt raw from all the walking I had forced to do. And the wood chips on the floor just give me splinters. This was the life I lived. Everyday. As I got a slash on my back, I almost fell. If I could, I would have fallen a long time ago. My legs were so skinny, I almost had no meat on me at all. but I knew that if I fell, or even moved, then the penalty would be death. As I get through role call, a time where all us prisoners stand still for hours. I glance around at the other cats around me, we all look almost the same, with only our fur color telling us apart. I don't know why I am a prisoner. I got taken when I was 7 and I never saw my parents again. My brother came with me here... But last week he got beat to death for collapsing to the floor of exhaustion. I felt tears go down my face, but they were just a constant thing. Same with my hunger, and fear. After role call, we got sent to our sleeping grounds to eat our meal for the day. It was the same as always, a fishtail. I bit into it out of hunger. It tasted horrible but that did not matter. As I ate the flea-ridden food I tried to clean my paws. But all I could taste was urine and mold as spikey splinters got on my tongue. Our meal ended fast and we were sent to work, we had to carry boulders back and forth with no break. If you pick one too small, they will kill you. As I lifted a boulder I remembered when they stabbed a tracking device in my ear, my ear has gotten infected since then. All I can do is try to survive until I get freed. But until then I am nobody. I am just prisoner C - 297. My legs wobble as I have no strength left for anything. But I keep standing. I feel a tick bite into my thigh, though it hurts, I feel nothing. I throw up blood in my mouth, but then swallow it. I feel dead, but I am still alive. So I must survive.
