Description

========A 2024 Thank You======== Hey folks, CreeperSlayer7 from 2024 here. I wanted to take this space to quickly reflect what a wild ride it has been. In the nearly ten years since I've originally developed this project, I never could have guessed this project would change what I wanted to do, and I am forever grateful for every one of you. I created this project back in February 2015, during a period when many Windows emulator projects were popular. I created it not to try and make a hit (it actually initially struggled with views, like many of my other projects), but to put my own creative spin on it, being inspired by both other simulator projects and a few other ingenious animations and games. However, the project ended up being my most successful project, and it completely changed my perspective in programming. I realized that my creations could have a large-scale impact, even if it was a silly Scratch project getting loads of views + favorites, and was a huge driving factor in leading me to pursue computer science (CS) as a serious career path. Of course, all things must pass, and I had mostly stepped away from Scratch by 2017. Although it was fun to use Scratch to create games, animations, and other ideas, I know I couldn't code in Scratch forever, and I moved on to other programming languages like Python and Java. I would go on to graduate high school (with a focus in CS and Math), complete my Bachelor's degree in CS, do research in a subfield of CS (machine learning), begin my Master's degree in CS (focusing in the subfield of data science), and, in a especially magical full-circle moment, work as a software developer at Microsoft for two summers! I even mentioned the development of *this* Scratch project during the interviews, and I'm confident that my story helped me get the job! :) In spite of me not even being active on Scratch anymore (and my account getting hacked in 2020 !!!), you guys kept sharing this project, kept remixing, kept adding to studios, learning to code, but most importantly, kept being creative. Now, as we approach the end of 2024, this project has over 45K views, and as cliché as it sounds, I just want to say to all of you who have supported this project: THANK YOU. thank you 45K times over. Looking back on where I am today, it’s incredible how something so small and seemingly insignificant at the time could shape the course of not just my career, but my entire life. If you've reached this far in my story and want my two cents: you never know what doors your creativity will open. Whether you're building your own project in Scratch, building something cool in Minecraft, writing stories, or doing another thing you're passionate about, every little step can lead to something bigger. Don’t be afraid to try something new, follow your curiosity, and share your ideas. Sometimes, the most unexpected beginnings can lead to the most beautiful destinations. Stay creative and Cayonara, CreeperSlayer7 Special Thanks to: -Robot1243 (inspiration for project) -colorgram (sandwich game (abandoned idea)) -dude341 (boot up) -bubblepopper21 (tracks on iTunes)
