Note: This is an unofficial estimate only -- Zeta started off in the Caribbean sea, and hit the Yucatan peninsula as a hurricane. Then it moved into the gulf, and despite shear and cold water, rapidly intensified into a category 3 major hurricane, making landfall in southeastern LA at peak intensity. The storm then made a direct hit in New Orleans and Quickly moved northeast into Mississippi. Due to its fast movement, the storm brought strong winds across the southeast and as far as Delaware.
