Look inside to see the actual algorithms. When I made my campfire animation yesterday, I couldn't figure out how to make a random number with a certain probability distribution, so I asked my fellow Dads and Mums on Scratch for help. @RokCoder, @ArnoHu and @PutneyCat quickly came to my rescue. The algorithm @ArnoHu showed me was too advanced for me to understand, but the other two were simple enough. I couldn't tell how the result would differ between the two algorithms though, so I made this test. As you can see, they are actually quite different! @RokCoder's algorithm has a more even distribution except for towards the top. @PutneyCat's algorithm has a gradually decreasing probability from bottom to top. Very interesting and useful!
Huge thanks to @RokCoder, @ArnoHu and @PutneyCat for helping me with probability distribution algorithms. The comment thread is here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/25643089/comments/#comments-107138410 This is the campfire animation I used it in: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/442769945/
