Hahaha this is trash You can click the screen, or use the arrow keys to turn the page. All credits go to me. except, i used the internet to research! i have no idea what websites, but they're somewhere on the internet! I put the authors note in the credits, so check that out! (i hope this story isn't offensive to anyone in any way! please tell me if it is! My dad read it, and he pretty much assumed that I was trying to insult america xD) i really hate this title, i wish i could come up with a better title. if you have and title ideas, could you tell me in the comments?
hi, so, um, this is my authors note i guess. - this takes place around 1905 - the guy in the story is passing through ellis island, which is the place that a lot of immigrants used to pass through to get into america - the guy in the story passes through Reginalds hall, (i think that's how you spell it) which is the part of ellis island where people's health got tested, i guess, to make sure they didn't bring any bad illnesses into america - the poem the guy mentions is the new colossus, and was written by emma lazarus. her poem was put on the statue of liberty on some date that i forget - by the way, i'm not trying to insult america in this story. i'm just trying to go along with the theme, and introduce the theme and stuff also, if you want to research the things in this story, or if you want to know more about them, here are some links to websites that you can use: oh and, for a lot of sites, you have to log in. (but for all these links, i'm pretty sure you don't have to log in. also, some of these might have ads on them.) but, just searching things up on the internet can be a great research tool as well! (wikipedia is a great resource, even if all your teachers are like mine and tell you never to use it) and i'm not trying to advertise these sites, so don't accuse me of doing that! i'm just trying to make a helpful authors note. about ellis island: https://www.ducksters.com/history/us_1800s/ellis_island.php https://www.softschools.com/facts/us_national_landmarks/ellis_island_facts/779/ about the new colossus & the statue of liberty: https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/monuments/statue-of-liberty/ https://poets.org/poem/new-colossus?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgduihuHa7AIViJWzCh0P7wKJEAAYASAAEgLuE_D_BwE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Colossus and although these sites do have information on them, it might not be enough. here's a link to a search engine for kids, which has lots of information about this: https://www.kiddle.co/ thanks! i hope this authors note was helpful!
