She’s a greyhound! ❀ How old is she? 9 years old (63 in dog years i think :D) ❀ Why is Brooklyn called a ‘greyhound’ if she’s not even ‘gray’? The origin of the name Greyhound is unknown, but the term could have been used to describe a dog who hunts by sight – the "gazehound". Actually, gray is NOT a common color. The dark gray color is somewhat rare and is called "blue". ❀ Why did you think of the name Brooklyn? Well, this is kinda weird..we name our greys after beers! So Brooke is named after the beer, Brooklyn Brewery (Lager) :p ❀ Why a greyhound? (Don’t read if you don’t like hearing about, well, h@rm!ng animals) Around the world, illegal greyhound races are held. But did you know that those dogs are abused, uncared for, tired, afraid, and in pain? Tens of thousands of innocent greyhounds are killed every year (some aren’t even 3 years old!) simply because they can’t run as fast as some people think they should. Sometimes that means being thrown out of a moving car into the night, or being shot in the head. This is a serious problem that needs to be handled, and greyhounds are getting the worst of it. Greyhound racing is selfish, cruel, and bad!! Your rescue greyhound will be forever grateful. When Brooke looks me in the eyes, I know that she is always thanking us for saving her life. Giving her the chance to not go to sleep in fear of the next morning. Greyhounds are sweet, intelligent, lazy, and content, they don’t deserve the cruelty their given. ❀ Why is her build so...fragile and pointy? Greyhounds are purebred racing dogs. Their pads are shock-absorbent for running and they have to be lean, skinny, and ‘pointy’ in order to be aerodynamic when running.
