Azrula Suzy the Heron was flying around a lake, looking for fish. As she looked at the water, she saw a strange light in the water. “What is that?” she asked. She dived in the water, to see what the light was. It was a jade necklace! “Wow!” She said as she fished it out. She put it on to see if it fit. It did, but there were some strange feelings in her mind. She tried to take it off, but she couldn’t! As she tried, there was a strange pulse that wouldn't let her wing near it. It was like a forcefield. Then, a voice screamed in her mind. As she was panicking, wondering where it came from, she flew into the woods, trying to run away from it. There was a flash. She had landed into Azurla. The voice stopped screaming. Suzy, who had never seen Azurla before, looked around before noticing. Nobody was there. She called out for her brothers and sisters. “Mark? Juliet? MIKEY?! ROBIN!? HELLO?!?!” She sat down, and weeped. She started to blame herself for being lost. Then a red panda appeared next to her, with a flash. “Where am I? Who are you?” he said. He looked around. “ I’m Tommy. Your name?” he said, in a quiet whisper. “ I’m Suzy. It’s nice to meet you.” Suzy said. She walked away to find food, and surprisingly Tommy followed her. Then one, two, three, seven animals appeared in a flash! As they scrambled to find food, Suzy was determined to get out of Azurla, It was almost night, and she had to take care of her brothers and sisters. As she flew up into the sky, where her house would usually show up with lights surrounding it, she bumped into.. Another forcefield! She tried to peck, punch, and even kick, but she couldn’t get out. While she was trying, more than 20 animals appeared in Azurla. Suzy found some animals who found berries, and asked them to share. They did, After she ate, she went to sleep, looking forward to finding a way out of this strange land tomorrow. When she woke up, she was surprised to find that some animals had built a village across from her. The necklace was still on her but she still couldn’t get it off. She went to the village to see what was happening in it. There was the smell of berries, vegetables and nuts! She was starving, so she tried to follow the smell. She ended up walking right into a restaurant. A wolf, called Henry, served her some very good tasting blueberries and a salad. Henry, who said he created the restaurant, said the village was called Azurla Village. Nobody knew what to call the world they were stuck in, but since there was only one village in the land, they just called the world Azurla, named after the village. Henry thought it was a good name. As he was still there, talking about the name’s origin, Suzy thought about the necklace she couldn’t get off. “Could you get this necklace off for me? I can’t.” she asked. Henry said “Sure” and as he was putting his paw near it to take it off, the forcefield around the necklace pushed his paw away. After a couple minutes, he gave up. “There’s strange magic on this. I can’t get it off.” he said. “Sorry.” He walked away, and Suzy ate her food. As she was exploring the village, she came upon a fortune teller. As she went in, the fortune teller, a cat named Shadow, told Suzy’s future, for free. “ You may not see it, but you have a very, very bad future ahead of you.” she said shuddering, as she hovered her paws over a crystal ball. The necklace Suzy was wearing glowed green, for some reason. “Wait! I didn’t say that!” Shadow said, worried and surprised. As she put her paws on her mouth, she carried on. As the mouth spoke for her, without Shadow knowing it, she said “You have made a big mistake, picking up the jewel. You’ve created A-” Someone screamed outside. Worriedly, Shadow ran outside to see what was happening. A fire had broken out! “RUN!” said Shadow. Behind the fire was a big, orange striped tiger, who looked very mean. “I’m Tony.” As Suzy and Shadow were running away from the fire, Tony laughed. It was a big, terrible laugh. As he was laughing, animals were dying. Suzy fell to the ground while Shadow was still running on, and Suzy fainted. When Suzy woke up, she saw carcasses everywhere. Tony was munching on a red panda tail. As Suzy hurried to hide, along with all the other animals, she felt safe enough in some brush to build a house. She made herself comfy, but she was still worried. She was worried about the necklace, her fate, and Tony. Suddenly she was hungry. “Seriously. I HAVE to be hungry. At this exact time, at this exact place, and at this exact feeling?” she said. “ Well, I guess I’d rather die.” She was joking of course. She cautiously went outside her hut to find a mouse. She then grabbed it and ate it up like a hyena, knowing she wasn’t going to get free berries and salads anymore. She then thought of a strange, mysterious, thought with no answer. “Am.. I cursed?”
