Duchess (by @ONXPro4 & @gregatku) v1.0 Colour Spot in the middle left shows whose turn it is. Click the Flag to start a New set of Games. Red goes 1st. To move, click a piece of your colour. If it can move, the Arrows show where it can move to. Click one of them to move to where that Arrow is. Until you click an Arrow you can change your mind about which piece to move by clicking another one. The pieces called Forms have radial "arms" that shoot. To make them shoot after they have moved, click the {S}hoot button that appears. If you click the {N}ext button, it won't shoot. Bullets remove any piece they hit (including your own), except Shields and Centres. However the 2 immovable Centre pieces have 3 Lives, so on a 4th hit by a Bullet, the Centre piece is removed and it's Game Over! Furthermore, if all of one Player's Destructible Pieces (ie. all pieces except Shields and Centres) have been taken, the other Player Wins. The pawn-like Dud pieces move like all other pieces, namely, same as a King in Chess, but the Duds can also jump a piece if the spot the other side of it on the Board, is vacant. If it jumps an opponent's piece, that piece is taken (except if it's a Shield). If a Dud Jumps an opponent's immovable Centre piece, that too is taken and that's Game Over. {?} : Gives you Instructions on playing Duchess (soon) {-} : Is a Menu of Options {U}-struck through by X : Disables Undo {U} : Undoes the last Move {R} : Switches which player is {R}ed (pre-game only) {|>} : Surrender/Concede the current Game {+} : Switch Game Boards (pre-game only) More detailed instructions via {?} Options to play against an opponent in the Cloud, and also to play against the computer's AI will hopefully be added in later versions of this project.
Its name & all game playing code by @gregatku. Concept, design, playing rules, internal Instructions, costumes, sounds & music by @ONXPro4. Thanks also to my student @Cor002, for his early help with some coding, debugging (eg. helping fix a Bug that had done my head in) & testing. It's Chess-like in many ways, but completely different, of course, and the most common Pawn-like pieces are called Duds, so the game is named Du(d)Chess. @ONXPro4 had a very well thought out board-game concept in his head, where he made a Slide Show to explain the game in full, and shared it with me, and a few other Scratchers, who might be able to help him make a start on it. Initially I thought I may not be able to help much as I had never made a Board-Game project before, which is odd because I love them, so I thought I'd have a crack at it. I got bits and pieces of ideas on how to implement it from various projects I had made previously, including in particular my Conway's Life NO Clones project - https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/303990029/ - and my Czech Rings Puzzle project - https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/170072706/
