Description

Story: Sometime during 1997, an official Barney computer virus named "Barney Error" (alternatively Virus.Win9x.Barn) was created by some unknown developers who were supposedly hired by Sheryl Leach, designed for children as a 'parental control test'. How it was able to spread to other computers is still unknown. The virus payload would activate a few minutes after it appears on a computer's hard drive, closing all open programs and making the user wait five minutes, giving them six chances to refrain from closing the program. If the timer goes down to zero, the program would close by itself. Each time the program is closed, the timer would increase. If closed six times, the program would scare the user, then delete every file on the hard disk, leaving the computer unable to boot. The original video is the only known recording of the Barney Error computer virus in action. It was recorded on June 28th, 1997 at 6:07 PM. The person who recorded this video is unknown, but the contents of the video show the destructive nature of the virus.
