Hold your mouse in one place for a while, and move it around. I know that this doesn't look much like real flames, and that it's slow, but it is the result of quite a bit of screwing around with the ghost effect.
This is just a simple effect made for fun. I don't see a real use for it as it can be quite slow at times.
