this has sat around in my unshared for a while, and I shared it to show to @CodingBio To those that dislike the name. Basically raytracing and raycasting are two words that can describe very similar techniques which people commonly use to describe different uses of the techniques. I'd like to just point that out because technically this is "tracing" lines along "rays" which intersect geometry in the world. I'd consider this 2D raytraced shadows.
