Morpeth itself is close to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea which is a seaside town, hence this airfield is popular for tourists seeking a view above the sea. Like many other smaller airfields, it was built in the 1940's when the second world war struck the... well, the world. However, it's still used today and maintains popularity. - Someone requested a 'Dragstrip Background' late last year but I'm not a really huge fan of drag racing, so I decided to do a nice little runway instead. I wanted something in the countryside but somewhat near the sea. I really like the north-east of England as it reminds me of old family holidays and just brings back great memories, so it's located there!
