Instructions

A solar eclipse occurs when a portion of the Earth is engulfed in a shadow cast by the Moon which fully or partially blocks sunlight. This occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth are aligned. Such alignment coincides with a new moon indicating the Moon is closest to the ecliptic plane. Are you ready to take control of the moon? Use your cursor to move the moon around. If you press the "A" key, the moon will appear further, if you put the moon in front of the sun at this distance, you will experience an annular solar eclipse, when the moon has covered the sun leaving the sun's outer edges around it. If you press the "S" key, the moon will appear nearer, if you put the moon in front of the sun at this distance, you will experience a total solar eclipse, when the moon has completely covered the sun. If you put the moon in front of the sun but don't cover it all up, no matter what distance, you will experience a partial solar eclipse, when the moon has only covered a part of the sun.
