(CLOSED) This game jam has is no longer open, and the results have already been presented in this project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/418046446/ You can also find all of the entries here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/27367988/ All of the text in the project is presented here for your convenience: Oh, hey! I have no idea why I made this whole island to announce a game jam, but hey, whatever. But, yeah! As per request of the community, we are having a game jam! (But, also, there were a lot of requests for tutorials, games, animations, and a huge follower collab, and we will do that too!) ^ ^ For those that don't know: a game jam is basically a friendly competition where people make a game from scratch in a small amount of time. The game jam theme is: dreams Whatever you think is a game about dreams is a valid entry! Get creative! :D You could make an RPG a Racing game, a simulation game, a platformer, a puzzle game, or whatever you want! The sky is the limit! The goal of this game jam is to have fun, and expand your horizons! However, the most creative projects will be recognized in a special follow-up project! There will be on project that will be chosen for each of these categories: - Sound design - Programming - Game design - Uniqueness - Animation - Quality - Art If your project shows mastery in any of the previously mentioned categories it will be recognized in the follow-up project! The deadline is August 24. Turn in your project by either remixing this project or by commenting the link in the comments! I'ma penguino Yus ( '>') ('<' ) DETAILS================================== You can find all of the entries here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/27367988/ Despite this being called a "game jam", your project does not necessarily have to be a game in order to be entered into the contest Generally, this game jam is more about quality, than quantity. Keep your project small, but extremely good! You can use other's work, but, you have to build upon that work in some way; whether it be modifying or adding something completely new onto it. Unfinished projects will be taken in, but any work on the projects after August 22, will not be judged. The project entered into the game jam must be a brand new project, started after August 15, and before August 22. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those wondering about how the categories will be judged in more detail, it is as follows: Sound design - Judged by how the sounds fit the overall aesthetic of the project, and musical selection / composition. Programming - Judged by how much programming is in the project, and how condensed the scripts are. Game design - Judged by how smooth the project is to learn, and how well the game explains its systems. Uniqueness - Judged by how abstract the idea is, and it's overall style and aesthetic. This category is looking for something that hasn't been done before. Animation - This category is judged by how smooth the animations are, how detailed they are or how stylized they are. Quality - Judged by how well-made all of the elements presented in the project are, in unison. Art - Judged by the style, the consistency of the style throughout the project, and how well the graphics communicate the idea. Released on: August 15, 2020
