Twigtail had been a regular warrior until Insanity and his clan he made raided her patrol group one night.He took them to their camp (in wind clan territory) and put them in the tunnels as prisoners.Insanity chose some of his warriors that look and sound like them back to her camp to spy and learn weaknesses to raid the clan.
