Great auks are an extinct bird in the puffin family. They lived on the rocky shores of the east coast. Audubon painted them, They were well built well for swimming, but they could not fly with their heavy bodies and stubby wings. People would drag them onto boats and beat them to death so they could sell the bodies for meat and stuff. When they became rare, scientists killed them for "rare specimens." That is how the Great Auk went extinct. Check out my other bird cams.
