✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧ ❝Why can four lines sum up so much?❞ - poem #7 ✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧ Four lines are so few words Not even a paragraph yet so much can be told within those four lines I've never written like this So short and condensed But I wanted the words to speak And they do A picture? They might tell one thousand words But four lines? They tell what one thousand words cannot ✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧✧✩✧ Have you ever wanted to express something so badly, but your long-winded explanation doesn't seem to get through to the person? All those emotions you poured out just go over their head, and you're left feeling misunderstood. I know that feeling all too well, and I thought there was no way I could explain how I felt. I wrote over 1,000 words. I tried speaking out, but nothing worked. So I just wrote one line, then another, and then two more. And that's it. In just four lines I managed to sum up most of what I had been feeling. Now, was it everything? No. But it got more across then my 1,000 words. It got more across then my rants. And it got more across then my tears. So now I'm sharing this as my quarterfinals entry. It may not be as pretty and poetic as other poems. It might seem short or effortless, but the goal of this was to show you how much power four lines can have. How less really can be more. And it's not easy - taking all your feelings and putting them into just four lines. 25 words or less. But it is powerful when you do. And this explanation - it's long. But everything is written in the 3 paragraphs is expressed above in short 4 lines. Each paragraph here is one set of those four lines. Because four lines can do so much.
