Description

Ok, I've spent an INSANELY amount of time on this project. Definitely more than 12 hours, and I think I could write a book of reflections on this projects only. But I don't want to keep you stuck on this screen too much longer, so I'll try to be concise! :) On Friday I participated in two getting unstuck video calls, one with some friends from Italy, and another with my international friends. In the Italian call I was trying to get inspiration while watching and helping others using lists, clones, video-sensing and pen blocks, but I didn't have the time to make anything and I felt I was already familiar with those blocks. In our international call, we had a lovely discussion about (computer) science, math, art, and many other topics. I got the idea of using math operators to make art, but couldn't come up with anything interesting, I just had the ghost spin in a circle using trigonometric functions. So I changed strategy and decided to completely ignore the prompt. Instead of asking "which block do I want to use?" I asked myself "what project do I want to make?". I thought that my last project could be an opportunity to look back at my journey. In getting unstuck 2018 my last project looked back at all my 20 previous projects, and I remember enjoying making it, so I started doing the same, grabbing screenshots from my own projects. But something didn't feel right, it looked too self-centered. My favorite thing this year has been using getting unstuck as an excuse to hangout with my friends and to further deepen our connection. It was a reminder of the need for learning opportunities in the spirit of "make it together" rather than (or in addition to) "do it yourself". Anyway! Instead of revisiting my own projects, I decided to visit my friends' projects and spent a huge huge huge amount of time exploring them, choosing the right screenshots, coming up with a story for the ghost, timing everything, searching for the right music and editing it to be correctly timed.. it was a full two days of work, but it was worth every second as I was imagining the faces of my friends looking at this and hopefully enjoying it! :) Oh, only at the very end I realized that I could reuse the animation of the ghost going in circles to disappear, so played a bit with the trigonometric functions "sin" and "cos" to make it happen - so I followed the prompt! :) If I had more time, I would feature more friends! At some point I had to stop because there were too many I wanted to include, but I really want to thank each of you for every single view, love, comment, inspiration, support you gave me, and for the hard-fun we had together. Hope you all enjoy getting back to your lives and finally get some sleep! :) Lots of love, and see you sooooon!
