Click Green Flag to get Lost in the Fog You have only a map and a sense of adventure! You can't see anything around you, but when Asked, type either a Direction or Place to walk to. If you can walk to that Place you'll be transported there and can Imagine what it would look like without Fog. Otherwise you will see the map, and can try again. Once the sounds of the location stop, you'll be transported back to the middle of the island, and can explore again. To see the map when you are at a location, press 'm'. Pressing 'm' again will hide the map. Hint: Guess at some types of place you can Imagine existing on this island. You just might find them! If you get Lost, just type a Direction instead. If you get really Lost, press Look Inside, and use the Show List blocks under the Compass Sprite, to see some Places to visit. If you get really really Lost, just say "there's no place like home" and click the red Stop button
Getting Unstuck 2020 Day 7 Prompt: create a project which uses Ask and Wait and Answer blocks Music: Dragonfly by Fleetwood Mac Breeze by cloudnoise https://www.soundtrap.com/play/dN2-9XIkTeyQElmMkW9fXg/breeze/ Reflection: I felt Lost in a Fog today (bit discombobulated!). Tired and not sure which way to go with this project! I had been inspired by the atmospheric use of music in some of my friend's projects from yesterday ( see @tarmelop 's Nuvole bianche (Unstuck Day 6) https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/411397426/ and @frjurado 's Who's afraid of... https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/411506303/ ). So I was excited about really making use of sound and music in this project, but had no idea of the visuals I wanted to use. In a lot of my projects sounds are more of an afterthought, as it is usually the images that come first and are central for me. However, during Getting Unstuck I've been really enjoying choosing music for my projects. I'd also recently seen a project by tallwinds called Succulent Boutique (interactive) https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/322849840/ which uses sounds and effects to create a tranquil environment you can just imagine around yourself. I still did not know what to do for this project, so went out for a walk (it was not foggy, but my brain still was). There is a nearby pond, and I remembered I'd always wanted to use the song 'Dragonfly' by Fleetwood Mac in a project at some point... somehow. Just because it always conjures up beautiful images for me whenever I listen to it. Still wasn't sure where I was going with this, but decided to start anyway!!! Just started drawing different things in Scratch whilst listening to 'Dragonfly'. Just letting the drawing happen rather than thinking too much about it! Succulent Boutique (interactive) has this really misty quality to the drawings, so I got a bit preoccupied with the Fill Effects in costume editor for a while. After a lot of playing (and making fuzzy patterned sprites in different colours) found myself wanting to draw a map using this effect on a grid. As I was still feeling a bit lost, thought I should add a compass! Now I just wanted to go and visit areas on the map. So thought I could use the Ask and Wait block as a way to ask for a direction/place to walk to. The map has no place names, but maybe it could help you imagine where to head? Decided to use lists of words for types of places, that people could just type in as guesses, to see if those places existed on the island, eg pond. Maybe the colours on the map would help people imagine some areas were wooded or sandy. Not really sure if this idea will actually work (or just be confusing/frustrating), so have also allowed directions like North (or just N) to be entered too. (updated: Question originally asked "Where would you like to walk to?" but following @MyDogTasha 's very helpful feedback, I have changed it to @Which direction would you like to walk in?", but you can still type types of place if you would like to try to find them) You do not get to see much on this trip at all, but hopefully it feels nice to get a little lost, and imagine what these places would look like if the fog cleared. Good Luck out there and let me know what you find!
