Mousepelt followed Redgale, the two cats leaving their home behind. He turned to face her, eyes glittering with excitement. “I’ll start hunting! You can try to find a place to sleep.” Mousepelt nodded and padded away, as Redgale turned in the opposite direction and parted his jaws, letting the scents flow in. Mousepelt wandered through the pine trees, a smile creeping across her face. She stumbled upon a hole in the ground, and with a closer look, she realized it was a badger’s den. She sniffed it and slowly started walking inside, finding no badger’s scent. {It must be abandoned.} she thought, nodding happily. She poked her head out of the den, and moments later Redgale approached with a squirrel and a bird. He set it down, smiling proudly. “Take your pick.” Mousepelt’s gaze darted between the two pieces of fresh-kill. {oh.. what if he judges me?} she thought. Hesitantly, she reached for the bird and brought it closer to her.
