~+~PROLOGUE~+~ A shriek split the calm night air. Bramble's head shot up. The shout . . . it had sounded like . . . like . . . Adder! His mate! She might be in danger! Their kits! Bramble raced through the undergrowth and wound around trees. Nothing was going to slow him down. He had to reach his mate. Another shriek split the air. Bramble put on an extra burst of speed. He couldn't lose Adder. He couldn't lose his unborn kits. No cat was going to take that from him again. He would stop them. "Adder!" he cried as he approached their den. "Adder!?" "Grraaaaaaaahhhrrrrrrrrr!" was her response. Bramble burst into the dead bush that he and his mate called home. Adder was lying on her side, her flank was heaving. Her grey-brown pelt shuddered and her tail lashed. Her eyes were full of pain. "Adder! Are you . . . what . . . umm . . . ?" stuttered Bramble. "Stick!" Adder managed to yell. "Stick?" asked Bramble, his feathers fluffing out. Adder glared at him, her snake-design pelt shaking with pain. "Right, Stick." Bramble rushed out of the bush and yanked off a tree the first sturdy stick he saw. Then he hurried back into the den and gave it to Adder. The she-cat bit down on the stick, and she bit down hard. She let out another muffled shriek. Understanding finally dawned in Bramble's yellow eyes. "The kits!" Adder managed to nod. “They’re early! If only we could visit the Healer! Ginger Moonsong would know what to do!” worried Bramble. “They . . . We . . . we will be . . . fine . . .” Adder forced out. It only took moments, but to Bramble, it felt like moons. He hated to see his mate in pain. But soon, two little wet bundles squirmed on the grassy ground. "Oh, Adder, they're amazing!" Adder curled her tail around her two new kits. "We need to give them a better life than ours." she whispered. "But . . . how?" Adder shook her head in sadness. "Bramble . . . we have to go back." "But will they accept us? After . . . everything that happened?" asked Bramble. "They must!" yowled Adder. "They couldn't just turn us away! We HAVE to do this." "For the kits." nodded Bramble. "For Storm. For Thistle."
Yaaaaay! The start to my new Fan-Fiction! I'm so excited! Thanks to @Amberkitti for the original series, Flight - A Tale of Two Sisters. It's totally awesome, so you should maybe go read it, or this story might not make much sense. It SERIOUSLY won't make sense if you haven't read Warriors (Written by Erin Hunter). Basically, its about Cats, Monarchy, and Tragedy. That about sums it up. Thanks to @_ShadowGlider1307_, my editor!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy!
