Chapter 1: I have an unpleasant dinner with my friend-giant I looked out the window of my dad's car as he drove me toward school. It was an early morning, and my eyelids were drooping. I should probably introduce myself. I am Rihanam Frendier. My family calls me Ria, so I guess everyone does. I'm weird. I seriously mean it, every single day of my life seemed to have gone wrong... well, my dad had broken up with my mom when I was less than one. My mom ran away, and never came back... he sometimes mumbled things about "Better Matters Than Me" he sometimes laughed about almost getting turned into a frog several times... but I had no idea what he was talking about... until later. We got to the school parking lot, and my dad helped me out of the car. "Have fun on the last day of school, Ria." He called to me. I nodded. The buses were just pulling into the station. People passed me without a second glance. Everyone knew each other so well. We lived in a small town in Colorado, and, well let's just say that I move schools a lot. Every. Single. Year. I always got into trouble and maybe had these... I didn't know how to fend those things off, but somehow, I always got blamed for the three-headed or seven-eyed monster's problem. It's like they didn't know it was alive. I skipped up to my best --and only-- friend. Her name was Xemia, and, she was probably the nicest thing I could get at this school... always smiling and whatnot. One of the boys wasn't bad either, but we weren't close. Xemia said he had a crush on me because he was always hanging around us. I wasn't sure why. Xemia smiled at me. "You ready for the last day for school?" she asked, her hands in her jean pockets. I nodded. "Let's hope nothing disastrous happens today!" I joked. Her eyes flickered with something I couldn't tell what it was. I just thought it was nerves for graduating 3rd grade... boy was I wrong. We walked into the classroom together. We always did. I took my seat at my desk. Xemia's next to mine. "Welcome!" The teacher called to us all. I tried to read the message on the board, but with my dyslexia, all I saw was AHVE A RAEGT SALT YAD!!!!! I sighed. She did role-call, and she told us "today is going to be really fun! We are going to do a treasure hunt and then..." I let her go on with her schedule for the day, while I pondered second grade's field trip to the zoo. There was this dude with a bowler hat, I thought it was just the trick of the eye, but he looked like he had 5 heads. I went to see him up close, and he let the elephants out of their cage somehow. I got blamed for it, and now I was here at this school... a new one. At least I had a friend.... or two. The treasure hunt --and day-- was pretty fun... until the last part of the day... it was free-recess time, and we all went outside. During the whole day, Xemia had been acting weird, and that boy --his name being Domi-- had been trying to talk to me. I ignored him, like always. I didn't want no boy telling me he had a crush on me! Xemia lead me over to a certain part of the playground and said in her usual sing-song voice. "Let's play hopscotch!" Xemia looked over her shoulder. Sure enough, Domi was standing there. I glared at him, played it. "Aww, Ria, don't be a fun-suck! Let Domi join!" I sighed and nodded to the annoying boy. "You can join." The boy looked around. "Er... could I talk to you...?" He looked at Xemia "er... in-in private." I glared at him hard. "absolutely not!" "Yes definitely!" me and Xemia said at the same time. She smiled. "Well.. do you wanna play or not?" She started to grow. "Um..." I said with confusion. She smiled. Fangs started to sprout in her mouth. I looked at Domi. He looked horrified as the monster-thing grew before me and him. "Xemia! Are you okay?" I called up to her. She smiled a toothy grin at me and Domi. "I am a Gigantes" "Giant? That's it?" I asked, somehow knowing ancient greek. She smiled a very very pointy grin. "I'm much worse than a normal one." she hissed. No one else seemed to notice my best friend, or the Gigantes on the playground until she picked up a random kid, and he started to scream. "Tasty mortal blood." she gargled and put him in her mouth. Children were looking up and screaming at Gigantes now. I looked a Domi. "What now?" I asked him, aware that I sounded stupid. "We attack." He said, launching forward. kicking off his shoes. I had never really noticed the limp-trot thing that Domi had possessed, but as I looked at his feet, I realized something big. "You're a satyr! Like in the Greek Myths!" Domi grumbles something that sounds like "Tin cans." And he jumped t try to stop the hideous giant thing. "Yummy Half-Blood." she hissed to me. I frowned, and look at Domi. "Do you have any idea what a Half-Blood is? Why is Xemia calling me one?" But before he could answer, he is lifted. I know that he is going to be eaten, and I turned away from the goat-thing. Domi gets a tin-can out of his backpack and threw it at the monster v

or my former friend Xemia? The monster growled as the tin cans exploded in her face. Domi ran off of Xemia and looked me in the eye. "Follow me, I think I have some explaining to do."
