Description

"won’t you celebrate with me" is a poem by Lucille Clifton, an American poet, teacher and actor who was born in Buffalo, New York, and lived most of her adult life in Baltimore, Maryland. Her poems frequently explore her experience in America as a Black woman, the lives of Black residents of Buffalo and Baltimore, and her connection to her matrilineal ancestry. Clifton was the Poet Laureate of Maryland from 1979-1985. She generally wrote the text and titles of her poems in lowercase. I made this in celebration of Juneteenth 2020.
