If you are not keen on the Hangman word game, SAVE the SNOWMAN is an alternative that's just as good, even if snow is not in season. I developed the Scratch version to support a language development lesson with the grandchildren. This self-challenge game selects the word from a data-base and you don't know it until you guess it or fail. There is a second version of the game, where one person inputs a word for a friend to guess. It's called Challenge-a-friend and you can find it at https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/403067774 The snowman has a red hat. In this self-challenge game the snowman has a green hat.
I took notes over a year ago when researching the various approaches to Hangman with Scratch. I can't say where the source is exactly, but I'm grateful for what I learned. This is my Self-challenge variation presented in a child friendly manner. Thanks.
